The range of application for a high performing Geocoding utility is within the developer’s control. From simple data analysis/visualization and customer management to distribution techniques that give you the edge over your competition. When addresses are geocoded the immediate benefit for users, whether novice or professional is that the data can be visualized and then analyzed which can lead to greater depths of data immersion and deduction. ThinkGeo Cloud Geocoding allows users to convert addresses into geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) in both single form or in batch form and our new Geocoder can do that with worldwide coverage and street-level accuracy! We notice the empty storefronts on our commutes and weekends out and about. The names and numbers continue to mount. Economists have pinned the blame on over extending and over expanding the realistic shopper base and in some cases over-inundating some major metropolitan areas with franchises. Another obvious trend is the takeover of online shopping and the convenience of pressing buttons at home versus roaming the wild for goods. Continue reading
Do you have a GIS application that requires little data deployment? Map Suite offers utilities which allows you to extract data to create smaller data subsets. These utilities can be used to create smaller basemaps and geocoding datasets to streamline your deployments.
The Geocoder Data Reducer allows you to generate a new smaller geocoder index based on specific US states. You specify the directory of the full data and select the states you want to reduce the complete dataset to.
If you are new to GIS you may not be familiar with the terms geocoding and reverse geocoding, but it’s likely you have done some sort of geocoding without being aware of it. Geocoding is the process of taking an address or location and converting it to latitude and longitude. Have you ever searched for an address on Google Maps or any other mapping application? If so, you geocoded! There may be several reasons why you need to geocode, but these are some of the more common applications: finding addresses, plotting customer locations, or plotting locations to get route information.
