ThinkGeo Route Optimization solves the Traveling Salesman Problem

ThinkGeo Cloud Routing has kicked off the new year with the addition of the Route Optimization service, which introduces the ability to tackle the Traveling Salesman Problem or TSP as it’s commonly known.

TSP functionality allows Cloud users to generate the most efficient route that visits multiple predetermined locations on a trip. Route optimization is an integral component in several applications ranging from business logistics to micro-level reporting and analysis. ThinkGeo’s new endpoint allows for users to plug in up to 25 waypoints for route optimization and also features selectable round-trip routing, giving you the most efficient way to hit all your stops and then make it back to your starting point. Routing and Service Area Functionality Comes To The ThinkGeo Cloud

ThinkGeo’s next addition to its robust cloud offering is ThinkGeo Routing, and it’s already here! Not only can you now get driving routes and turn-by-turn directions from our cloud, we also added a Service Area utility to help you manage business logistics using spatial analysis.

Cloud customers and evaluators are now able to enter in start/end coordinates and receive the shortest driving route back to them. Dijkstra’s Routing Algorithm

One of the most commonly used routing algorithms is Dijkstra’s algorithm. Dijkstra’s algorithm finds the shortest path between two nodes by building a shortest-path tree, and stopping once the destination node has been reached. Normally in routing applications, Dijkstra’s algorithm is used to find the shortest route between 2 locations. This is the case with Map Suite Routing’s built-in Dijkstra routing algorithm.
